Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors consists of a team of unpaid volunteers with a passion for planning the vision for the Hope Center Uganda. The Board meets quarterly to develop future plans, assess the current status of the organization in both Uganda and the US, and work to set goals for furthering the Hope Centers mission: providing for the children of Uganda. Our Board members serve 2 year terms and the Board is made up of members from all across the United States. Every 6 months we have a few Board members travel to Uganda to visit the center, interface with local officials there, further build relationships with the staff at the Center, and get an on-the-ground perspective for the organization.
In 2016, Steve and Barbie Wells were living in Lincoln, Nebraska and Steve was working as a worship director for their church among family and friends when they were presented with a fork in the road. Hope Center Uganda, a school and orphanage in Mityana, Uganda for abandoned children, was a ministry their church supported, and on which they had been serving as board members. It became apparent that the center needed more hands-on leadership and so were offered the positions of president and director. After much deliberation, Steve and Barbie stepped into these roles with fervency. Over the past ten years, Steve and Barbie have passionately led the Board of Directors and have taken many trips to Hope Center to collaborate with the staff.
