      <image:title>Our Solution - Giving children a home.</image:title>
<image:caption>The Hope Center Uganda averages around 35 children at the center at any one time. Some of the children are only weeks or even days old with most children being under the age of 5. Our primary goal is to rehabilitate and then resettle each child with a trusted family member or other responsible adult in a loving, safe home. Learn how you can sponsor a child below.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Solution - Health.</image:title>
<image:caption>When a child is brought to the center, they are taken to the nearby hospital for a complete health assessment. They are tested for HIV, treated for any sickness that is identified and given all necessary vaccinations. Children who live at the center are continuously monitored for health issues. If a child shows signs of illness, they are taken to a nearby clinic or hospital for treatment. Our on-staff nurse and caretakers administer necessary medications. We follow a strict immunization schedule ensuring all children are up-to-date on their vaccinations.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Solution - Education.</image:title>
<image:caption>The majority of our children are in the early childhood phase of life (birth up to 8 years of age). Babies and toddlers are taught basic skills by trained caretakers. School-aged children are enrolled in a local school and attend with other children within the community.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Solution - Showing God’s love.</image:title>
<image:caption>Our goal is to not just provide for the children’s physical well being, but also share the love and saving Gospel message of Jesus with them. Our staff works to integrate a Christian message into every aspect of the kid’s lives through songs, devotions, Bible reading, and weekly worship services led by local pastors.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Solution - Resettlement.</image:title>
<image:caption>Our primary goal is to find a safe, loving forever home for our children. To accomplish this, we do extensive research and we visit the home of the potential guardian. If the person is a good prospect, they then visit the center so we can conduct interviews and assessments. If we determine they are a good fit, they come to the center to meet the child, get to know them and begin forming a bond. Once this process is complete, our Social Worker takes the child to their new home and provides the family with food, clothes and gifts. The Social Worker then makes several post-resettlement visits to the home to assess the situation and ensure the child is thriving.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Faith - Christ-centered.</image:title>
<image:caption>Hope Center Uganda is first and foremost a Christ-centered home for the children who stay here. We strive to not only provide for the physical needs of the children, but also the spiritual ones! Our caretakers make it a priority to share the love of Jesus with the children daily. Prayers before meals, spontaneous worship songs, Bible stories, religious activities are just some of the ways that this happens!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Faith - Worship.</image:title>
<image:caption>We have local pastors come to the center a few times a month to lead the children and staff in worship, and have even had some baptisms of children, staff, and sometimes the staff’s families!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Faith - God’s love.</image:title>
<image:caption>We want every single child to know that they are loved by their Heavenly Father and to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior! When walking around the center, Christ’s love is evident all around! From Bible verses painted on the walls, to religious books on the shelves. From Bible stories being told, to songs of praise being sung and shouted, you can always feel the love and presence of Jesus all around!</image:caption>

She was found neglected due to the fact that her mother is mentally slow and has severe disability plus the entire family being too poor and is unable to care for the baby. The child was likely to suffer from malnutrition or to lose her life because the mother’s handling was so alarming since she is mentally unstable and no one in the family to help her out. Updates: Christine’s immunization process is ongoing, looking beautiful and healthy.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Age: 11 months old Triplet babies joined HCU on the 27/03/2023 at a tender age of 1 month old. They were abandoned and neglected by their own biological father immediately after hearing that his wife had given birth to triplets. He feared responsibility and took off to an unknown location. The poor mother also failed to take care of the babies since she had no food to eat and other basic needs, hence contacting the local leader in the village to see whether she can be helped together with her children. Lucky enough they contacted the office of the probation and children were rescued and referred to the HCU for child protection services. Updates: All babies are progressing on well, looking good and healthy, they have grown into big girls with no health issues. They like eating too much and taking a lot of drinks and are loved by all caregivers. Poor mother keeps on visiting the center to check on them and she really appreciates HCU a lot for the good work done towards the babies.</image:caption>

      <image:title>The Problem - Fatherless homes.</image:title>
<image:caption>Many children grow up in single-parent, generally fatherless homes. This requires the mother to work all day just to put food on the table. With the average motherhood rate being 5.1 children per mother, there is often not enough money to support all of the children. This leads to widespread child abandonment, neglect and abuse.</image:caption>

      <image:title>The Problem - Alcohol abuse.</image:title>
<image:caption>Uganda is one of the drunkest countries in the world. This alcohol abuse is spurred on by home-brewed moonshine called waragi. Many adults drink every night, leading to neglect of children, the inability to hold a job, and rampant fatherlessness in households.</image:caption>

      <image:title>The Problem - Lack of medical care.</image:title>
<image:caption>Many children are born with medical conditions, or they are developed due to lack of proper nutrition and nurturing. Special needs children are more likely to be abandoned because parents can not afford to care for them.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Resettlement - Family.</image:title>
<image:caption>Although our staff and US team loves these children, we also know that the Hope Center is not a permanent home for our kids. They need a safe and secure family environment to grow up in. We have a social worker on staff who works tirelessly to find homes and families for the children. She works to find any living relatives of the children first to assess if they can be a suitable and loving guardian for the children. We work with any existing family members to provide education, financial planning, caretaking training, and any other way we can to get the children placed with family members.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Resettlement - Adopt and foster.</image:title>
<image:caption>If no family members are found to be suitable, we work with local residents who are able and wanting to adopt or foster children. These families are also thoroughly vetted by our social worker to make sure that the children are going to be well cared for and loved!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Resettlement - Follow-up.</image:title>
<image:caption>When a child is reunited with their family or with a new family, we do many visits to the house in the initial weeks and months of the placement to check on the child’s progress and make sure everything is going well. After 6 months, these visits become less frequent, but we still check in every 6-12 months to visit the children, bring presents, and provide any additional support to the families that we can!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Health - Medical Exams.</image:title>
<image:caption>Every child that is brought to the Hope Center is taken for a full medical assessment. Here they are given vaccinations, tested for HIV, malaria, and other local diseases. Any injuries they have sustained are cared for immediately and a health plan is developed for them moving forward. All of our caretakers are trained in basic medical care for needs that can be met at the center, and a local doctor’s office and hospital is used when necessary. We also have a nurse come to the center annually to assess the children’s development and make sure they are growing and progressing properly.</image:caption>
